Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 2026
PacketProbe ("we", "us", "our") operates the website https://packetprobe.com and provides free, browser-based network diagnostic tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
Information We Collect
IP Address
When you use our tools (such as "What's My IP" or "Port Checker"), your public IP address is processed to provide the requested diagnostic results. Your IP address is used in real time to perform the test and is not stored on our servers after the request completes.
WebRTC Connection Data
Our Packet Loss Test uses WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) to measure packet loss, latency, and jitter between your browser and our test servers. The connection metrics generated during a test are calculated locally in your browser and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. The WebRTC connection is ephemeral and is closed when the test ends.
Analytics Data
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics, including pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location. This data helps us understand how our tools are used and improve the service. Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser to distinguish unique visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- No user accounts: PacketProbe does not require registration or login. We do not collect names, email addresses, or passwords.
- No personal information: We do not ask for or store any personally identifiable information beyond what is described above.
- No first-party cookies: PacketProbe itself does not set cookies. The only cookies that may be present come from Google Analytics (third-party).
- No test results stored: All test results (packet loss, latency, jitter, IP lookups, port checks) are computed in real time and are not saved on our servers.
Third-Party Services
Cloudflare
Our website is hosted on and served through Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare's CDN (Content Delivery Network). Cloudflare may process your IP address and request headers as part of delivering the website to you and providing security protections such as DDoS mitigation. Cloudflare's privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect aggregated, anonymous usage data. Google may process this data according to their own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Data Retention
PacketProbe does not maintain a database of user data. Test results are ephemeral — they are generated in your browser or processed in real time and discarded immediately. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's default retention settings.
Children's Privacy
PacketProbe does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age. Our tools are general-purpose network diagnostics intended for all users.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of PacketProbe after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
